Video Guestbook: More Than Names and Written Wishes

Imagine opening your guestbook five years after the celebration. Written messages are lovely, but what if you could also hear a familiar laugh and see the expressions of the people who were there?

How is it different from a traditional guestbook?

A paper guestbook preserves handwriting. A digital form collects written notes. A video guestbook captures short camera messages, including voices and expressions. Each serves a different purpose; video complements rather than replaces event photography and other records.

A message does not need to be a speech. A spontaneous greeting, an old friend's hello, or a shared laugh can feel more personal than a formal paragraph.

Which occasions suit video messages?

Wedding guests can share wishes and stories about the couple. At birthdays, family members can record greetings to revisit years later. At farewell parties, colleagues can share memories that might otherwise go unsaid.

Reunions, community events, and family celebrations can work too. Explain who the message is for and when it may be revisited.

How to encourage guests to participate

Keep the invitation simple: “Leave us a short video message.” Put a visible QR code at the venue and share the link in invitations or group chats.

Offer a prompt such as “What's your favorite memory with us?” Choose a bright, relatively quiet spot and respect guests who prefer not to be on camera.

Getting started with RORAKAY

Create an event in RORAKAY and share its link or QR code. Guests open the page in a browser to record a greeting without installing an app. The messages form a collection you can revisit subject to your plan and event access settings.

Try a small event first, test the link on different phones, and check retention and access settings before sharing.
